Lucky Grey

Lucky is between 18-20 years of age. He is an absolute SWEETHEART! He is very well broke, walk, trot and canter with NO issues. Stands quietly to be tacked up, and mounted. He is 14.3- 15 hands and 100% sound. He is the "been there, done that" kinda guy and nothing rattles his cage. Gotta love those older guys! He is currently under saddle, and after having his teeth floated next week, then he is ready to go home! If you think your Lucky's forever home please submit an adoption application. Mia

 Mia- Is an exceptional foal. Out an OTTB named "Paulina's Baby" by Gracious ghost. Both Paulina (the dam) and Mia (the foal) came to Safe Haven Arabians when Mia was just days old. Paulina gave birth to this filly in a kill pen in Ohio (Sugar Creek) **for the full story see horses in rehab** Mia is an Appendix filly, her dam an OTTB and her sire a AQHA (quarter horse) she's a smart filly, and has very bold movement. Romantic Affair

 Romantic Affair- a 17 year old, 16 hand OTTB mare, who had a successful racing career with 31 starts, 2 wins, 5 placings and 4 shows and a career earning of 18,000... This mare had an even more impressive breeding career.... all of that hard work for her people, just to be dumped at New Holland.. left for dead.. literally. "Romey" as I like to call her for short, was one of the last 15 horses run through the sale on June 14th 2010 when a truck load full of TBs came in after most everyone had left EXCEPT the kill buyers who were all trying to fill their disgusting trucks... I got into a bidding war with won of New Holland's most infamous kill buyers, and was determined to keep bidding until I walked away with Romey.. and I did. But at least 14 others weren't so lucky that day :( This mare has been fully QT'ed, fully vetted (included farrier and dental) and is currently under saddle 3 days a week. She is LOVELY and VERY quiet. Her canter is to DIE for.  She is SOUND and has some impressive movement. Her sire is "Black Tie Affair" that is also very impressive!!!!! Please note- Romey prefers to be in the pasture, when stalled she cribs (wind sucks) whereas in the pasture (with the run in shed) she's as happy as can be. She is sweet, easy to bathe, handle, a great loader, hauls quiet, etc. So far the cribbing when stalled is her only vice. Bosco

Bosco AKA "The B-man" is an amazing *registered* 15hh Arabian gelding. He is 18 years old, and a total blast to ride. He is an advanced BEGINNER type mount. Bosco came to Safe Haven when his previous owner hit hard times and was faced with rehoming him or putting him down (as she REFUSED to send him to auction, GOOD FOR HER!!!!) As a result, we took Bosco in and gave him lots of love. Bosco was never mistreated or abused. He is in GREAT health, and deserves his own person. Finding Bosco his own forever home will free up a stall to help another horse in need. Bosco is not spooky, absolutely NO bolt, rear, spin or buck. No vices such as cribbing, kicking, biting, etc... Personality wise, Bosco is a HUGE mush, and loves everyone. Bosco thinks he's a dog and will lick you death, when you're brushing him (seriously) Bosco is an attention hog, he would sleep in your bed if he could. He LOVES people. He is also very athletic so he won't be outgrown by his rider very quickly, he can definitely keep up! Bosco has some of the smoothest gaits I've ever ridden and is solid, quiet and loves the trails. Does great barefoot, clips, loads, ties, etc. Bosco tends to fall in love with his neighbors, and get very attached. I will require and ENFORCE a buy back clause on this gelding to ensure his safety. Cookie

 Cookie is a coming 2 year old and was sent to SHAR by her very responsible mommy, Kim York, who rescued this young Hanoverian cross filly from New Holland as a yearling. She was a surrender to us, and has been started with her ground work and is very, very smart and willing. This filly is in your pocket and kind, and if you think her beautiful rose grey color is impressive, wait until you see her movement!!! A definite dressage prospect. Adoption fee: 650.00

**UPDATE** Cookie has been adopted by a young lady in Upstate New York, who plans to put that nice motion to use by making her a dressage horse! Yea!

Khopy

Khopy's story is out of this world. Who could dump such a super star? For the complete story on Khopy please go to the "Success Stories" tab.

Khopy is a registered Khemosabi grandson and tall at 15.2 hands. He has some of the most impressive pedigree and natural movement, I have ever seen. Khopy brought me so much drama, but was so worth it. He was rescued from the New Holland (slaughter) auction and brought here for rehab. I had an extensive shoulder surgery done on him to remove shards of sharp wood from deep in his shoulder (see photo) from someone either stabbing him or him running into a very very sharp wooden object. was incredibly hard to break, but now going quiet under saddle. I had to hire an attorney to write a letter of ownership to the AHA, just to transfer Khopy's papers into my name being that the girl that dumped him did not wish to cooperate.. ughhh... BUT- Like I said....It was so worth it!!! Check out the before and after pictures. There is a photo of Khopy at the auction waiting for someone to save him, a photo of the surgery, a photo of a very happy boy in his nice stall, and a photo of Khopy doing dressage.

UPDATE: Khopy has found his forever home with Amanda and is now doing dressage (as pictured here) and endurance, We are so happy for him!!!

Primo

Primo was saved from slaughter at the New Holland auction in Luka's (RIP) memory and thanks to all of your wonderful donations. We were told at the auction when Rita spoke to the broker that Primo would NOT take the bit, no way, NO HOW! WRONG! I rode Primo yesterday under saddle, and WITH A BIT, it was a wonderful and safe ride. Primo is tall at 16.3 hands, he is a Anglo Arabian (Half Arabian and half TB) with a slip of Pinto in there somewhere.  Thank you to EVERYONE who helped save his life! Transfer of Ownership and adoption application required.

Princess

 **UPDATE** :( I just found out that Princess crossed the rainbow bridge in April... R.I.P she was the sweetest girl :(

Princess- 14.- 14.1 hand Arabian Mare. Flea bitten grey and sooooooooo COOL!!!! This girl is the definition of Arabian, emotional, sensitive and just so darn typey.

She has had some wonderful training along the way. Beautiful head position under saddle and her tail carriage, is well- you guessed it, VERY ARAB! She races around the pasture with pride and confidence but is very quiet under saddle both Western and English!!!! Jetta

 Jet Black Morgan X mare. She rides english and western and spent many years as a kids horse. She has had a lot of ground work done and is very calm.  She lunges great and free lunges over jumps, she sets up really nice. She has very smooth movements and would be a great show horse or trail horse.

**Sonny** wasn't really a "rescue horse" per-say; Other than being priced in the "danger zone" price range for meat buyers on Craigslist, and living all alone with no other horse companionship for the last couple of years (something that really bothers me by the way and always will, I hate to see a horse alone with no other horsey friends in sight :(.... All things considered though, Sonny showed up here to SHA in good lookin' shape! :)

Soooo- we bought Sonny, paid his transport here and have brought him UTD with vet, farrier and dental... when THIS GORGEOUS SPANISH ARABIAN, stepped off Lynn's trailer (my horse hauler) I ALMOST PASSED OUT!  and I begged Anthony (hubby) to let me keep him..... LOL.... I've been doing Arabians a LONG TIME... And this one takes the cake. Beautiful horse, and I do mean BEAUTIFUL- Watch the video and fall in love, like I did! He's a very solid 15 hander and is big boned. Very sporty! Very, very sweet- and drop dead gorgeous! Transfer of Ownership and adoption application required.

Patriot

 **Patriot** is a  very handsome boy. As you can see he is GORGEOUS dark bay gelding with nice facial markings, star and snip. Unfortunately "Pat" arrived in bad shape and not looking much at all like his photos. Despite Pat's horrid condition from neglect and starvation, he is sweet and is broke to ride.

It didn't take Pat long to earn some fans and find his safe and forever home with Miss Evie, his very own horsey halo sponsor!  Pat now lives in the big city of Chicago with his mom :)

Pat was in rehab for weight gain, and special evaluation for quite a while but never REALLY flourished until Evie got a hold of him. (See the photo of Pat and Evie below)...

Ebonit

18 year old black Arabian mare- Registered. Used as a brood mare her entire life, and then dumped at the New Holland auction, where she was sold to a meat buyer and then rescued by us. Ebonit was not broke to ride, as I had to find out the hard way (lol) She is now broke and enjoying life with her new owner. Nadya

 Nadya- 15 year old Arabian mare, rescued by SHA at the New Holland auction. This mare is a complete diamond in the rough. Walk, trot, canter, QUIET. No issues whatsoever. This poor girl was simply a victim of the bad economy , as are so many others.... she was dumped for the price of feed. Could easily be a hunter equitation horse or go Western pleasure. KID SAFE.  This lovely lady is absolutely wonderful, she was surrendered to SHA when her owner couldn't afford to care for her anymore.! She is broke to ride Western OR english, and takes the bit nicely. She stands 14.3 hands, and is UTD on everything you can imagine. She is currently healing up from an abscess on her left front hoof, and is still a bit sore on hard ground. She is on the road to recovery! She's very sweet with other horses in the pasture, both mares and geldings. She has wonderful ground manners and she is stall friendly! Available for adoption. Ella Bella

 Beautiful Arabian/Warmblood cross filly. Dark liver chestnut with chrome (looks like she's going to be dark gun metal grey), she has perfect confirmation, and is very pretty. This girl is going to be TALL!!! She will be an amazing sport horse for someone. She is not registered. She has been handled very much. She leads, picks up her feet, good for the farrier, worming, vet, and grooming. She is easy to catch and easy to halter. We haven't introduced the clippers yet, but other than that she is ground work complete and very sweet. Not for adoption- she has found her special person and they are in love :)

Sydney *Doll*

Sydney is a wonderful Quarter horse kids pony, she is broke to ride, and is super willing, sweet and QUIET at the walk, trot and canter. She is adorable as an english mount, and will be an outstanding hunter pony. She is also super athletic and ready to go any direction you want her to go. Wonderful half Arabian, half Saddlebred gelding. Mr. personality plus, 15.2 hands, at the wither. He does have a little bit of a swayed back but not bad at all. This horse is a blast to ride!
