Mission Statement
Between 1980 and 2009 an estimated 7 million American horses have been brutally slaughtered in foreign owned slaughterhouses located in the United States. By 2007 those slaughter houses were shut down in the United states by the US legislation. But did this stop the slaughter or our American horses? Absolutely not. Since the closing of the foreign owned United States slaughter houses, an estimated 2.7 million American horses have been transported to Canada and Mexico for slaughter, which unfortunately is not illegal. Of those 2.7 million how many do you suppose use to be some one's loved and trusted companion? Could slaughter perhaps happen to YOUR HORSE? The horse you THOUGHT went to a forever and loving home? Absolutely. This happens all too often. Here is a sad fact for all of you fellow horse supporters... Approximately every five minutes an American horse is brutally slaughtered. The EPN predicts if the slaughter continues at this pace 9 million of America's horses will have been slaughtered for human consumption by the year end of 2010. Did you know, that 85% of horses sent to slaughter are healthy, gentle and SOUND?! These are horses that fell victim to the bad economy, or stopped winning the big bucks at the track, even your daughter's best friend, whom you thought you sold "to a good home" more often than not, ends up in the hands of a kill buyer at some high turn over "meat" auction.
Now about Safe Haven Arabian Rescue INC.... we are a small team dedicated to saving our American horses from slaughter for human consumption overseas! We specialize in Arabian rescue. We started our privately funded rescue in November of 2008, and at our own expense! But now- We are very happy to announce that our 501 C 3 not for profit license, is in the final stages of completion :) We live about 60 miles from the largest slaughter auction in the US... The "New Holland (nightmare) Auction" This is the horse auction in New Holland, Pennsylvania, known as the "New Holland Killer Sale" is the biggest public horse auction east of the Mississippi and a privately owned facility. Every Monday, an average of 200-300 horses go through the sale. Half of them and sometimes more than half are bought by so-called "Killer Buyers" and will face a horrifying trip to the slaughterhouses in Canada, and Mexico at the end of each Monday. Take a moment to educate yourself about the inhumane process of horse slaughter simply by simply clicking this link **WARNING** THIS VIDEO IS INSANELY GRAPHIC!!! NOT TO BE VIEWED BY THE WEAK OF HEART!!! Furthermore... what you're about to see, will haunt you forever.... Click here to proceed.
Please help us to help these horses. We attend the New Holland auction every other Monday to out bid the kill buyers on Arabian horses, and off the track Thoroughbreds with priority, we will also be on hand to help any others that we see, that are in dire need. We will use your tax deductible donations to do this!!! Any little amount helps the horses, we also need wormer, brushes, blankets, etc. Please email me if you'd like to donate to Safe Haven Arabians! Please view our photo albums to see the horses we've already helped. We will have new horses available for adoption monthly. We've saved nearly 30 horses since November 2008. It is costly and the horses NEED your help! We accept credit cards through paypal, our payment address is click the paypal donation icon below. You will receive a receipt for your donation. Thank you for helping us to help the horses.
**Please Note** Horses for "adoption" will be offered to the best suited home, an application form and references will be required for those horses. Horses for adoption will also be re-homed with a protection contract and an enforced buy back clause. "Sale Horses" are privately owned horses and show horses being offered for SALE, not adoption. Please do not confuse the two. Our sale horses are NOT rescue horses, as we are also a training facility. Thank you
Thank you.

Safe Haven Arabian Rescue, Inc.
Other Ways To Help Us:
To benefit our rescue go to www.horse.com to place an order (Horse.com was formally countrysupply.com) - best prices around for all things horse related... When you place and order please be sure to put in "safehavenarabians" on the discount code or in donation box next to your order.
When you check out - it will ask you to enter the Country Care Code (which is safehavenarabians) - do not hit process if you miss this step as they will NOT credit the rescue if you do not enter a code. It may only be a couple cents here and there but it adds up, and the horses need it!
